The godmothers were Patricia Lewis, the wife of Vantage founder and owner Henry Lewis, and Deirdre Dirkman, VP worldwide operations at Vantage.

'Incredible service and amenities'

Ocean Explorer will serve travelers wanting to 'immerse themselves in the culture of faraway lands and truly experience a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, while enjoying the incredible service and amenities of an intimate small ship environment,' Henry Lewis said.

The ship will sail worldwide expedition cruises for Vantage year-round.

Built to luxury standard

Built to luxury standard, it can accommodate up to 162 passengers in 77 cabins including 15 for solo travelers. Of the 15 itineraries offered, four depart from Boston.

Ocean Explorer is the latest of SunStone's Infinity-class vessels.

It was delivered by China Merchants Heavy Industry in July and follows 2019's Greg Mortimer. Ocean Victory was delivered last month. Coming next are Sylvia Earle, Ocean Odyssey, Ocean Albatros and Ocean Discoverer. Long-term charters are in place for all the vessels.
